Finding hope in Eric Idle’s pancreatic cancer story

Sometimes, certain news articles appear out of nowhere, reminding you of how precious life is - especially when faced with something as serious as pancreatic cancer. Reading Eric Idle's story did just that for me, offering a reminder of both the rarity and the importance of early detection.

Unlike Eric, whose diagnosis came from a Doctor's preventative medicine tests, mine was due to an incidental - or as we call it, an accidental - finding. It’s a reminder of how unpredictable this journey can be, and how each path is unique. It did make me wonder about my particular pathway over the coming months and what would be recommended, based on my age, the location of the tumour, the type of tumour, and my prognosis.

Still, stories like Eric’s bring a sense of hope. They remind me that, even in the face of something as daunting as pancreatic cancer, there’s the possibility of a path forward - one that might offer its own version of a "funny story" down the road.
