Next steps: Follow-up with Dr Lee and a new test
I was scheduled to catch up with Dr. Lee (via phone/video) following the upper endoscopy and colonoscopy a few weeks prior. Maybe this time, we'd have some real answers, or at the very least, a plan for what to do next. Dr. Lee had been so thorough, and I trusted his judgment - but the uncertainty was still hard to shake.
During the consultation, he mentioned that there was nothing advanced, and there was no worry regarding the bowel as far as polyps were concerned. It was a relief to hear that part of my body was in the clear, but I couldn’t help feeling that the real issue still lurked in the shadows.
Dr Lee proposed that I undergo a CT enterography, a test designed to focus on the small intestine. It’s typically used to detect inflammation, tumours, bowel obstructions, abscesses, or the source of internal bleeding. As there was no clear identification through previous tests for a source of blood loss, this was the next logical step. Dr Lee reassured me that it would provide a more comprehensive look into areas that had yet to be explored.
As we discussed the next steps, I couldn’t help but wonder what the scan might uncover.
Looking back, it was hard to believe how quickly things had escalated from a routine check-up to a deeper investigation into my health.
For anyone curious about what a CT enterography involves, you can read more about the procedure here: What is CT Enterography?. It’s a complex test, but at this stage, I was willing to try anything that could bring us closer to understanding what was going on inside my body.
