A routine check turns critical: My 10th colonoscopy

Following my referral to Dr Lee, I was scheduled for an upper endoscopy and colonoscopy for mid-August. The indication of diagnosis at the time was “iron deficiency without anaemia”, with the tests to determine any particular cause.

This was not my first colonoscopy, so nothing new to me. I have always hated the preparation for it, however, this one I tolerated a lot better than ones in the past. I put this down to Dr Lee listening to my concerns and making sure I had the best process that I could.

The endoscopy and colonoscopy were conducted, with the result being that they were not able to find a cause for my iron deficiency. Further discussions would be required to understand if there was something causing the low iron deficiency (which in the past I had received an Iron infusion to correct).

[Ros] Having the same Doctor we "dob" on each other to her often, I had mentioned to her a few weeks prior that he was sleeping a lot more than usual, and getting a bit cranky, at times, her words were "it's not normal for a man to have such low iron levels" and that hopefully Dr Lee would be able to figure out what is going on or rule out some things. Jim and I usually attend the Doctor together, it doesn't worry us and we share everything.
