A special dinner before surgery: An evening at Parliament House

As I prepare for surgery, one of the things I really wanted to do was share a special dinner with Ros, Mum, and Dad at Parliament House in the Strangers' Dining Room. I had booked the evening months ago as something to look forward to - a way to make a meaningful memory before the big day.

With the cases of COVID going around, I knew this would be my last time dining out before the surgery. From now until then, everything would be at home, so this evening was even more important - a chance to be together in a special setting.

We started the night by meeting at Parliament House and going through security. We had to wait a little while downstairs in the foyer before heading to the restaurant. It gave us a moment to soak in the atmosphere of this grand place. There weren’t many people around, which made the evening feel even more intimate and special.

The food was fantastic, and the location was perfect, but what made the night truly memorable was the company. Sharing this moment with Ros and my parents, knowing how much their support has meant to me throughout this journey, made it all the more meaningful.

After dinner, we wandered out of Parliament House and headed home. It wasn’t just a meal - it was a memory that I’ll hold onto as I step into this next phase, knowing I’m surrounded by love and support.
