Designing tshirts

Life has a way of throwing us curveballs when we least expect it. My journey with pancreatic cancer began with one such curveball - an unexpected diagnosis that changed everything in an instant. But as I faced the reality of the challenges ahead, I found strength in an unexpected place: my passion for creating funny and meaningful t-shirts.

When I first heard the words "pancreatic cancer," I felt a whirlwind of emotions - fear, uncertainty, and a heavy sense of the unknown. But in the midst of it all, I knew that I had a choice: to let this diagnosis define me or to fight back with everything I had. And so, I turned to my love for design and humour to channel my energy in a positive way, using my creativity to spread awareness and support for those of us facing this fight.

Turning Pain into Purpose

The idea behind my t-shirt designs is simple: I want to create something that makes people smile, even during the toughest times. Humour can be a powerful tool, especially when dealing with something as serious as cancer. I’ve always believed that laughter has a special kind of healing power. So, I started sketching designs that were quirky, fun, and, most importantly, full of heart.

Some of my favorite designs include skeletons striking a pose with the phrase "It's OK to Be a Little Different" - a playful reminder that we’re all unique, and it’s those differences that make us strong. Another design features the words "Support Squad" wrapped in a heart shape, surrounded by words like "Supportive," "Encouraging," and "Motivating." This one is a shout-out to everyone who stands beside us during our fight - because no one can do this alone.

Raising Awareness, One T-Shirt at a Time

The purple ribbon, a symbol of pancreatic cancer awareness, is a constant theme throughout my designs. It’s a reminder of the battle we’re fighting, not just for ourselves but for everyone who’s been touched by this disease. From "Peace, Love, Cure" to "His Fight Is My Fight," each design carries a message of hope and solidarity.

Through my website, funkyprints.com.au, a portion of each sale goes directly to PanKind, an organization dedicated to pancreatic cancer research. It’s my way of giving back and supporting the research that could one day change the future for people like me.

Why I Do What I Do

For me, creating these t-shirts is a way to turn something painful into something meaningful. It’s about spreading a message of hope, resilience, and community. When someone wears one of my shirts, they’re not just wearing a piece of clothing - they’re joining a movement, standing in solidarity with those of us who refuse to give up.
